“I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country.” So said John Diefenbaker, 13th Prime Minister of Canada.
Those freedoms came at a cost. Many Canadians of all races and religions have served and died defending those freedoms. Please remember and honour their sacrifices.
Also remember that with these freedoms come responsibilities and consequences. We are all responsible for making our community, our city, our province, and our country a better place for all, not just for a few. That is the only way we can truly honour those who fought for our freedoms.
