Do McDonald's employees eat there?
Do you wear the clothing you sell?
Do you follow your own advice?
If you recall the parable about the cobbler's children having no shoes, you'll remember that sometimes, it is possible that while other people see us as very capable because they know us and our work, there are others who don't know us and make judgements on what they see. This applies not just to your website, but to every facet of your company's presence online, from your Twitter account to your Facebook page to your LinkedIn profile (or lack thereof).
In short: everything counts, and if you're not walking the walk, there may be an assumption by others that you don't even know how.
I admit that from my own website, blog and other social media that I have been the proverbial cobbler. It's time for a change. I hope you'll follow along as I start walking the path I encourage my clients to take.
I'm looking forward to the walk.
